I am a self-taught artist drawing inspiration from locations close to home or farther afield. Sometimes I seek locations out but increasingly streets and parks are interesting me. Either way the scenes usually caught my eye in an instant and I wanted to explore them further on a deeper level.
Once I’ve chosen the broad subject, I like to paint certain aspects that I can really highlight for the best impact and composition in the painting. I love working with light and the way it changes a vista during the day. The different shadows and patterns it makes and the way it can completely change colours from one moment to another.
I paint in a variety of sizes but particularly enjoy painting on a large scale.
I love the amount of detail and impact you can achieve with size. I suppose
I have a documentitive approach but one that looks for an emotional reaction not a rational response.
